Summer Sunday Picnic (Singiri)

I and my friends went on a picnic to a place called Singiri Hills. This place is famous for a temple. This place is 25 km from Katpadi. We took a call taxi to visit this place. We started at 8 am in the morning after having breakfast.

The road was sunny and dusty till the outskirts of Vellore. But after sometime we enjoyed a beautiful village scenery view.We passed through paddy fields and other cultivation land.We had a sight of colourful village atmosphere. We stopped in the roadside and took some photos in the fields.

Then we started our journey to Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamys' temple. This temple is located on a rocky hill and a small river flows before the entrance of the temple. As it is summer there was only little water in the river. These waters had a plenty of fish in them.

After spending sometime walking across the river we reached the temple. We proceeded for darshan and had a great darshan. Then we came out of the main temple and the view from here was really good.We sat there for sometime enjoying the cool breeze and had prasadam. The view from the temple is...

We came down the hill and had some snacks and cool drinks. Then we came to know about a zoo nearby from the people in the shop.We decided to visit zoo since we had time till the evening.Amirdhi Zoo is about 5km from Singiri Temple.

We reached there by 11 am.This zoo has a variety of wildlife compared to the other ones in this district. We saw deer, peacocks, crocodile, some kinds of pythons, porcupines, jackals and some birds. We saw a dancing peacock and a tamed deer, which was roaming with a care taker like a pet...!!

After spending some time in the zoo,we started to our hostel. On our way,we stopped near a restaurant inside the town and had lunch. It was almost 2pm when we finished the lunch. Then we returned to the college hostel and took rest.

It was really a great picnic. We all enjoyed to the core both in Singiri and in Amirdhi zoo.At the end of the day it is a wonderful experience and a beautiful memory. This might be my last picnic in the college since my year of study is going to end in another ten days.......

Hair care in hostel

This summer we all have many hair problems like dandruff and hair fall.Dandruff may be because of dry scalp for most of us.Hair becomes dry when we use any anti-dandruff shampoo. As a solution to this problem, I and my roommate tried a new hair pack with egg.We made two different types of hair packs.

The ingredients we used for these packs are easily available. They are:

  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 lemon
  • Olive Oil
  • Half cup of Curd
  • Banjaras' Hair pack powder (optional)
In the first pack,we used only the white portion of an egg.We slowly punched a small hole in the egg and separated the white portion. Then mixed half of lemon juice,5ml of Olive oil and one and a half tea spoon of curd. Its not easy to beat the mixture. After beating well, the pack is ready. This pack is not thick.

In the second pack,we used both yolk and white portion of egg. Then mixed another half of lemon juice,5ml of Olive oil,one and a half tea spoon of curd and Banjaras' Hibuscus hair pack powder. After beating all the above mentioned ingredients, the pack is ready. This pack is thicker than the first pack.

These hair packs must be applied to damp hair.My roommate applied the first mentioned hair pack and I applied the other one.Applying from scalp to the end of the hair yields good results(from our experience). We left it for an hour and washed our hair with a mild shampoo.

After washing, my hair became soft, silky and shiny. Now I love to touch my hair.I observed forty percent of decrease in hair fall.So continuing this hair care damage therapy once in a week would fully repair my hair and controls dandruff and hairfall.I want to end this Hair care therapy by saying "I love to touch my hair now".

An Appetizing Idea....!!!

After a long time in hostel we were bored of mess food.We didn't have an appetite even to think of going to mess.So we were discussing in late afternoon about home made stuffs. We got an idea of making something to dinner,we had a small cooker. We were seven in number.

Altogether we had some potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, onions, chillies and some basic spices. We started the entire process in the evening. It was great fun when one of my friends' were cutting tomatoes. She was letting all the juice outside only the peel was cut into pieces...!!Each one of us were busily working as if we were doing some group studies...It looked so colourful by the time we finished cutting the vegetables...

Now we started to cook potato and carrot fries.Since the cooker was small we divided the total fries into two parts. It took so long to get carrots fried. So we changed our plan and cooked a gravy instead of fries. In the meantime my friends were making  carrot raita. Now the side dishes are ready.

When coming to main course,we decided to cook tomato rice. But volume of cooker was not enough for seven people. So we cooked tomato rice for its volume.I had puliogare powder,so we brought rice from mess and made puliogare. So finally our dinner was ready......so colourful right???!

I guess none can resist appetization after reading this post.We had five dishes in total. We didn't even wait a minute after cooking. Our idea was really yummy...!!It was a memorable evening with all fun filled moments with my friends and tasty homemade stuff.

Journey across "The Seven Hills" (Tirumala)

I went to Tirumala last week with my friends. We walked through seven hills from Tirupathi to reach Tirumala  in Alipiri path.We started at 4 am in the morning and reached Tirupathi at 7am.We had breakfast and reached the starting point of the pedastrian path by 8.30 am in the morning. This path 3550 steps and 3 km of road. The average distance covers about 14 miles. We offered camphor at the starting point,I prayed God to give me enough energy to walk.

After an hour we stopped at a 1000th step and took a break. We saw many vendors selling water bottles, sodas, raw mangoes, gooseberries, pappaya, watermelon and various food stuff. We bought a Soda and a water bottle first. Then we saw a rock mandapam nearby. We sat there and relaxed for sometime.

While walking,we found mandapams at the peaks of seven hills with the names of the peaks like Seshadri,Vedadri,Garudadri,Anjanadri,Vrishabhadri ,Narayanadri and Venkatadri.(adri means hill in sanskrit) were wriiten near the mandapams. The statues of dasavathara (the 10 incarnations) of Lord Vishnu are seen in the path. The incarnation of  Lord Vishnu in Dwapara Yuga is Krishna.

Now in the path after almost 500 steps,we spotted the deer park maintained by TTD (Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam) organisation. We ate raw mangoes, watermelon and even fed the deer with some peanuts. Those deer were beautiful with spots on their body and healthy. We stopped there and took photographs.

After crossing this park,we walked for a very long distance and reached a point where we can see the vehicles coming to Tirumala on the road.We spotted many hotels and shops at this point. We didn't have anything to eat as we had our tommies full...!!! Then we arrived near the Hanuman statue. We bought some key chains on which our names were written.

Then we followed the on the road (2km).We were very tired so we bought glucose and ate two or three spoons of it and had a strong lemon soda.It was like a recharge to our bodies. The view was excellent from this path since we were in the end of the sixth peak. The vehicle traffic was less so we stopped  at view points, enjoyed the view and took photographs.

After walking on road,we reach the foot of the Mokaalla parvatha, it has 550 steps which are steep and causes kneel pain (mokaalla means knees in telugu).May be because of this, people named it as Mokaalla parvatham. The picture shows the starting point of Mokaalla parvatha.

We took 4 hours to complete the walk in this path.....After this amazing, exciting and tiring journey across seven hills we went to a restaurant to have lunch..Then we went to Divya Darshan Queue Complex and waited there for 3 hours. We had an excellent darshan, we forgot all the pains we had in the journey. Then we returned to my friend's home in Tirupathi, spent the night there and returned home in the morning.
